Chicago Adventures + what to do

August 10, 2016

CHI-TOWN! oh how I love that city, for my summer get away I planned a four day vacation to Chicago during the Lollapalooza festival at Grant Park. I was very lucky in that my best friend was also staying there for the weekend, she was the one to persuade me to get tickets and join her on an amazing experience!

this is what I did on my free time;

FREE ACTIVITIES:

The Lincoln Park Zoo is around a 22 minute bus ride from downtown. The zoo is open 365 times a year and free! simply beautiful inside, and has a spectacular view of the downtown buildings around it.  Inside the venue there are several indoor and outdoor displays of Mammals, Reptiles, Birds and Amphibians. There are other Zoos near by and although this particular one is smaller its a nice little treat to have access to a free zoo in such a wonderful city.

this is the view leaving the park <3

The Navy Pier is another free attraction, it is located on the Chicago shoreline of Lake Michigan. This is a truly scenic spot great for taking pictures! The Pier has some carnival rides, bars, shops, food! They even have daily touristic tours, you can find more information here ---->

Grant park of course is a must see! as cliche as it might seem, seeing The Bean is a Chicago bucket list check off. The Millennium park gives you a great view of downtown and its beautiful tall building, the park is beautiful! the city really knows how to take care of its parks, the landscaping is spectacular. This is also a great place to take wonderful pictures! I would highly suggest to get to the park early so you can take great pictures of The Bean without a herd of tourists.

Explore a foot!

This was The Michigan avenue bridge, it gives you a wonderful view of the Chicago river in downtown. The scenic views are beautiful, its a spot where you let go and take it all in. I literally walked around 6-7 miles on my site seeing day, you can spend a whole day just walking around since everything is close to each other.

 ---------------------------------

MUSICAL:

Chicago is full of theatrical shows! I really wanted to see Hamilton but it wasn't playing in Chicago the week I was there, I searched what plays were going on at the time and found a musical parody on Game of Thrones! what a treat! We got great seats in the center for $50 a person.

If you're a GOT fan I really recommend you watch this musical spin on the show we all fell in love with! It was hilarious!

 ------------------------

TRANSPORTATION:

We got a week pass at a Walgreen's for $28 it included access to all buses and trains for a week!

cant get better than that!

The blue line is where I found myself the whole weekend, this line basically takes you anywhere in downtown.

I loved the transportation in Chicago! everything was so easy to get to, the buses passed every 5-10 minutes it was wonderful!

BRUNCH:

Must try out Lula's cafe! it has a charming out door seating area where you get a lovely view of the park next door

You absolutely have to try the Corn bread blue berry french toast! words cant describe how delicious this dish is wow
