Meeting internet friends
Do internet friends ever become real friends? well I honestly can't remember ever making real friends through social media. This is a story about a new friendship and I hope to inspire you all to be more opened minded about meeting new people.
I met Chloe, a Scottish blogger I follow on Instagram. She was actually the first person I ever did a collaboration with. I don't even remember how we started following each other but we had the same interests; traveling, adventures and blogging. I knew I could always find support through her kind words on social media. We kept a simple friendship online, but we spoke about hanging out if she ever came to Miami. As you can tell, that day did come. Chloe was coming to Miami with her friend Vivian and we all wanted to hang out. The day of her arrival she texted me letting me know she was here, and I had already requested the day off. We planned on meeting up at her hostel. I felt like I was going on a date (lol), I was thinking... "Is this going to be awkward?" "are we not going to get along?".
All of these stupid thoughts went away as soon as we all met. I gave Chloe a big hug, and greeted her friend Vivian with a hug as well. We proceeded to walk to the beach as we introduced ourselves, but it felt like we had known each other for years. We instantly clicked. Moral of the story, don't be afraid to meet new people, or to meet with existing social media "friends". People are so used to feeling insecure, and are not as open as they would want to be. Break down your walls and be social! You never know what amazing people are out there if you don't give them a try.
This picture was taken like 1 hour after meeting each other (lol)
This is Vivian in the middle (from South Korea), her first time in The United States!
We spent the entire day having a blast, getting that lovely summer sun while jumping into beautiful beach side pools and bar hopping. We were the three musketeers that literally met THAT day and already got along so well. I even learned some Scottish words, we were quite the radgie lassies!
Our adventures are still continuing..... but I hope you feel inspired to get out there and meet more people! It's wonderful to meet people from around the world, its great to learn about their culture and way of thinking. These girls are amazing, and I am so grateful to have met them.
If you're reading this, you guys are so FAF!
We also met Chichi a fellow local, she was a host at a pub crawl we did the night we met. The four of us planned a breakfast gathering in Wynwood a couple of days later.
AND if that wasn't enough, we planned a last minute one day trip to KEY WEST! our first time going there.
Even though we live on opposite sides of the world, I know we will always remember these great moments. One day we will reunite!
Love you girls!
